Kids Art Classes in Melbourne for Creative Young Artists
At Wild at Art KIDS, children learn drawing, painting and a wide range of art forms including mixed media, clay, collage, construction, sculpture and weaving—while being given the space to think, experiment and create in their own way.

Hello and welcome gorgeous creative families!
My name is Di and I help families with art-loving children, creative kids and budding young artists to nurture their children’s love of the arts through inspiring art classes that focus on the artists (your children). I am passionate about art classes for kids where the children lead their artmaking, and all of their learning for that matter.
- Maybe you have a child who loves art?
Fabulous, me too! - Maybe you’d love for your child to connect with other art-loving kids?
Our small groups allow for rich conversations between participants and beautiful relationship building. - Maybe your child is full of creativity, but you’re not sure how to support and encourage their interest?
You’ve come to the right place. - Maybe your child hasn’t found a passion or hobby they love yet and you or they want to try visual arts?
We provide tons of choices, open-ended ideas and room to try lots of different things! - Maybe you’d like to get some materials for home too, but you’re not sure what to look for or get?
We can help with that too!
You’re in the right place, and I’m so glad you’re here!

WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT
A different kind of art class
In our studio, children learn drawing and painting skills—but that’s only part of it. They also work with a wide range of materials and processes, including clay, collage, construction, sculpture, weaving, mixed media and more. They also learn what artists do - that is, how to BE an artist.
The combination of skills, materials, processes and behaviours (what artists do) give artists the chance to explore different ways of making, discover what they enjoy and develop their own approach to art.
They’re given the space to make artistic choices, follow ideas, choose materials and mediums and work at their own pace.
Some children arrive full of ideas. Others aren’t quite sure where to begin. We meet them where they are.
They’re guided and supported, without being rushed or pushed toward a “perfect” result. Because the goal isn’t just to create something beautiful—it’s to build confidence, courage, focus and trust in their own ideas.
ABOUT THE STUDIO
A studio built on experience and care
Wild at Art KIDS was created by Di, a qualified teacher with over 26 years’ experience in both classroom and art education.
The studio is built on a simple idea: that everyone is an artist, and that creativity grows when we feel supported, capable and encouraged to explore and take risks. Our classes are led by experienced artists and educators who guide each student with care, encouragement and respect for how they work and learn — from children discovering art for the first time, to teens developing their style, and adults returning to creativity or exploring it more deeply.
IN THE STUDIO
What a class feels like
Step inside the studio and you’ll see children and teens:
- working quietly with focus
- discussing their ideas
- experimenting, testing, changing direction and trying again
- learning new techniques and applying them in their own way
- building on the inspiration provided or going in their own direction
- chatting, sharing and connecting with others
- taking pride in what they’ve created
Not every piece is finished. Not every artwork is polished.
But every child is learning, growing and creating something that feels like their own.
Explore our current classes and find what feels like the right fit.

“Every child is an artist. The problem is to remain an artist once they grow up.” - Pablo Picasso
In case we haven’t met yet, I’m Di …
A passionate lover of learning, reading, the arts, growing in heart and mind, a good movie, and the great outdoors. I love my own children fiercely and intend to travel here, there, and everywhere in the coming years.
- Exercise is like my coffee – it gives me clarity, energy, and focus… But don’t get me wrong, I love my coffee too.
- I have a ridiculous thirst for learning and personal growth – I love it!
- I’m finding that the older I get, the more I require time in nature.
- (Older, not old! I’m 49 years young to be exact and I still feel like a child in many ways, no matter what my kids say!)
- I love to read, almost always fiction, but to be honest, these last few years have been the quietest reading years I’ve ever had.
- I’m willing to ask for things. If we don’t ask, the answer is always no, if we ask, it might be yes!
- What am I most passionate about? Children being in the driver’s seat of their own learning.
It is my mission in life to ensure every child that crosses my path feels seen, heard, and loved for who they are, as they are.
I’ve been a primary school teacher, for both the classroom and the arts, for over 22 years… and now I want to focus solely on nurturing, inspiring, and instilling a love of creativity, learning by discovery, and self-trust in the artists (the children) I meet.
Let's Get Creative!
Our mission and vision is to nurture and encourage the artist already within – whether it is currently bold and loud or has been buried a little. We’ll start wherever your child is at and help them to flourish! And along the journey, we hope to spark a love of the arts and inspire each artist to trust in themselves to BE an artist for the whole of their life.
In the Wild at Art KIDS studio, artists will have ample opportunity to explore, experiment and lead their artmaking; they may not always finish a piece, it may not always look like a masterpiece in the traditional sense of the word, but it will be the artist’s piece – from start to finish. They will be encouraged, supported and guided to trust their ideas, their imagination, their artistic style -to trust the artist within.
What Our Happy Parents Say
Di offers a safe, fun environment where children can use their imaginations freely to create. She inspires them, supports them and celebrates their successes with them. I have had two children attend Di’s classes and both have truly loved their experience with her. Highly recommend.
Kimberley
Di has been extremely wonderful with my twins the last two terms. She has taught them patience, how to share and wait there turn and of course some brilliant pieces of art.
They are excited to go every Saturday morning and come home with multiple pieces to display.
Extremely grateful for the opportunities presented in Wild at Art KIDS.
Thank you Di
Natali
My son has been participating in the Dive into Drawing classes since the start of the year. My husband and I are amazed at the skill and quality of the pieces he brings home each week- his talent far surpasses mine and he is only 8! 🤣 He loves Di and she works so hard in making the classes fun and engaging whilst still teaching her students the necessary skills. So glad we signed up to her art classes!!
Faye
