Kids Drawing Classes in
Taylors Lakes, Melbourne
Building confidence, skill and creative expression
At Wild at Art KIDS, children learn far more than how to draw. They develop strong drawing skills while exploring different techniques, materials and creative approaches in a calm, supportive studio where they’re encouraged to think independently, experiment and enjoy the creative process.
Whether they’re picking up a pencil for the first time or already filling sketchbooks at home, every child is welcomed, supported and guided at their own pace. Our experienced teachers help young artists build strong foundations while encouraging them to think creatively, trust their own ideas and enjoy making art.

Dive into Drawing
Our Ages 10+ class is perfect for young artists who want to deepen their skills, learn new techniques and grow their own artistic style. Whether they’re beginners or already drawing constantly at home, every student is supported at their own level.
We explore more detailed and expressive drawing skills — things like shading, texture, depth, accurate observation, perspective and working from references. Students also learn practical approaches such as using grids to improve proportions, sketching anatomy and faces, and layering colour with pencils to create smooth blends and rich detail.
Projects are varied and inspiring. In Term 3, artists will dive into close-up flower studies inspired by Georgia O’Keeffe, design symbolic self-portraits in the style of Frida Kahlo, explore reflections and light, and work on imaginative concept designs and illustrated stories.
This class is relaxed, fun and welcoming — a space where older kids can challenge themselves, try new materials and begin (or continue) shaping a drawing style they feel proud of.

Why Families Choose Wild at Art KIDS
-
Build Strong Foundations
Children develop age-appropriate drawing skills through engaging projects that introduce techniques such as observation, shading, proportion, perspective and composition. As they continue from term to term, those skills deepen and grow.
-
Think Creatively
Learning techniques is only part of the journey. Students are encouraged to make creative decisions, solve visual problems and explore their own ideas, helping them become thoughtful, confident artists rather than simply copying what they see.
-
Personalised Support
With small class sizes, every child receives individual guidance from our experienced teachers. We meet students where they're at, offering encouragement, challenge and support that helps each young artist continue to grow with confidence.
A Supportive Place to Learn
Trying something new can feel daunting.
Our studio is a calm, welcoming place where children are encouraged to ask questions, try new techniques and experiment without the pressure of getting everything “right”. Every artist progresses at their own pace, with thoughtful guidance that helps them build skills, confidence and a genuine enjoyment of the creative process.
Frequently Ask Questions
Absolutely. Children are welcome from wherever they’re starting. Whether your child is just beginning to explore drawing or already spends hours drawing at home, our teachers tailor their guidance to suit each individual.
Students build strong drawing foundations while developing the confidence to use those skills in their own way. Depending on their age group, they’ll explore techniques such as line, shape, proportion, shading, texture, perspective and drawing from observation.
Along the way, they’ll learn to look more closely, solve creative challenges, experiment with different approaches and make their own artistic decisions.
We group our classes by age because children of similar ages generally learn, engage and interact in similar ways. This helps us tailor our projects, teaching and creative experiences to suit each group.
That doesn’t mean every child of the same age has the same drawing ability. Some children are just beginning, while others have been drawing for years. Our experienced teachers meet each student where they’re at, providing individual guidance and encouragement so every child can continue to grow at their own pace.
Choose the class that matches your child’s age. Each program has been designed specifically for that age group, with the complexity of the projects, teaching approach and creative challenges developing as students get older.
There’s no need to move your child into an older group because they’re already a confident or experienced artist. Our small classes allow teachers to extend and challenge students individually within their age group.
Not at all. Children don’t need to arrive with particular drawing skills or experience. They come to learn.
We focus on building skills, creative thinking and confidence over time, with each student encouraged and challenged from their own starting point.
Yes. Our classes are intentionally small, with a maximum of 7–8 students depending on the class. This allows our teachers to get to know each student, notice where they need support or extension and provide individual guidance throughout the class.
Just themselves and a water bottle. All art materials are provided for each class.
Wild at Art KIDS is located in Taylors Lakes, just off the Kings Road exit of the Calder Freeway and only minutes from Watergardens Shopping Centre, making it easy to access from surrounding suburbs.

What Our Happy Parents Say
Di offers a safe, fun environment where children can use their imaginations freely to create. She inspires them, supports them and celebrates their successes with them. I have had two children attend Di’s classes and both have truly loved their experience with her. Highly recommend.
Kimberley
Di has been extremely wonderful with my twins the last two terms. She has taught them patience, how to share and wait there turn and of course some brilliant pieces of art.
They are excited to go every Saturday morning and come home with multiple pieces to display.
Extremely grateful for the opportunities presented in Wild at Art KIDS.
Thank you Di
Natali
My son has been participating in the Dive into Drawing classes since the start of the year. My husband and I are amazed at the skill and quality of the pieces he brings home each week- his talent far surpasses mine and he is only 8! 🤣 He loves Di and she works so hard in making the classes fun and engaging whilst still teaching her students the necessary skills. So glad we signed up to her art classes!!
