Giraffes

Giraffes Can’t Dance on Canvas

Giraffes can’t dance – or can they?

We’ll read the book Giraffes can’t Dance by Giles Andreae as inspiration and then draw our very own giraffe up close.

Artists will add jungle details like vines, grasses and other foliage — then use a mix of acrylic and watercolour paint to bring their giraffe and night sky to life.

Surfs up

Surfs Up!
on Canvas

It’s time to hit the waves — art style! In this workshop, artists will explore different painting techniques to create an ocean full of movement, colour and energy. Once their waves are looking just right, they’ll sketch and paint their own surfers riding the swell — maybe a big wave champion, a learner catching their first wave, or a group of friends surfing together.

They’ll add extra details (e.g a seagull, a fish or two) to personalise their artwork further and finish their summer-inspired masterpiece.

Little birds, little homes

Little Birds,
Little Homes

Kids love Magiclay – it is one of the most loved materials in our studio.

Design and make your very own bird from Magiclay, then add feathers, buttons, pipecleaners and any other materials you’d like to make your bird unique.

Then use a box to create a habitat for your bird. Does your bird live high in a tree, on the forest floor, down by the beach or in your backyard? Artists will design a natural habitat using their box and creative materials.

What to bring: A box – shoebox size or similar.

Castles and Kingdoms v1

Castles and Kingdoms

Design your own castle in this creative, hands-on workshop! Artists will plan, design and build their castle using a mix of boxes and construction materials, then bring it to life with paint, paper, collage and all the treasures of the art studio — pipecleaners, pompoms, wooden pieces, feathers and more.

Whether it’s a grand royal palace, a crumbling stone fortress or a colourful fantasy tower, each artist’s castle will be completely unique.

Summer butterfly

Summer Butterflies on Canvas

Let’s fill the sky with colour! In this workshop, artists will draw and paint a giant butterfly on canvas, exploring bold shapes, bright colours and creative patterns.

They’ll experiment with different brushstrokes and design ideas to make their butterfly truly their own — from symmetrical wings to wild, free-flowing designs. A joyful, summery artwork to take home and proudly display.

Monday 19th January

Streetscapes

Streetscapes:
One- and Two-point perspective

Discover the basics of perspective in this hands-on workshop! Artists will learn simple techniques for both one-point and two-point perspective, then choose which approach to use to create their very own streetscape.

From buildings and shopfronts to roads and windows, they’ll add the details that bring their city to life. A practical, creative way to explore drawing skills while designing a unique urban scene.

Tuesday 20th January

Aliens in space

Aliens in Space

Get ready for a fun and imaginative adventure! In this workshop, young artists will use their wildest imagination to design their own UFO and create a crew of aliens — from the friendly and funny to the downright weird.

They’ll decide what’s happening in their scene: are the aliens exploring a new planet, zooming through galaxies, or capturing someone on Earth? After sketching out their story, artists will choose how to bring it to life — with watercolours, textas, Sharpies and/or shading and sketching pencils. No two space scenes will be the same!

Tuesday 20th January

Beach Days & Summer Skies v2

Beach Days & Summer Skies

Capture the feeling of a warm summer’s day on the beach. In this workshop, artists will paint a classic beach scene — soft sand, gentle waves and a bright sky above.. They’ll learn how to blend colours smoothly to create depth, movement and light — from the shimmer of the surf to the glow of the summer sky. While the paint dries, artists will sketch and colour a self-portrait with their surfboard, then paste it into their scene for a fun, personal touch.

January School Holiday Workshops

Enrolments Open Mid-November

This was a fantastic school holiday activity. The kids were kept busy for 3 hours, and produced some beautiful artwork by the end. Their teacher, Di, was just lovely. So engaging but also so knowledgeable and was really able to talk to the kids at their level. I would definitely recommend it.
