Led by practising artist Riley Magras, our Thursday teen classes combine thoughtful skill development with creative freedom in a calm, welcoming studio environment. Whether your teen is just starting out or has been creating for years, they’ll be encouraged from their own starting point while developing confidence through genuine artistic experience.

Painting Around the World
Homeschool Class
Artists will be introduced to a range of techniques, processes, skills and styles throughout the term. They will explore art history and context, taking inspiration from many different artists, cultures and time periods.
Artists will draw upon what they are learning, their own ideas and their developing personal style to create a variety of artworks throughout the term. There will be oodles of opportunity to experiment, try new things and develop their skills.
Commencing Thursday 16th July – Thursday 17th September
Please note: no class Thursday 20th August

What to Expect
Our Thursday teen classes are led by Riley Magras, a practising and exhibiting artist who brings her professional experience, creative insight and genuine passion for teaching into every session. Students don’t just learn painting techniques—they gain an understanding of the creative thinking, experimentation and decision-making that underpin an artist’s practice.
Designed for ages 12+, our teen classes introduce students to a wide range of painting techniques, artists and creative approaches from around the world. Each term, students explore artists, cultures and painting traditions from around the globe, using them as inspiration to develop new skills while creating artwork that reflects their own ideas.
Along the way, students use drawing and mixed-media techniques to plan, develop and enrich their paintings while building strong artistic foundations. Throughout the term, they strengthen their technical painting skills, experiment with different materials and processes and become more confident making their own creative decisions.
We believe the best learning happens when skill-building and creative freedom go hand in hand. Riley guides each student through new painting techniques, creative challenges and artistic processes while encouraging curiosity, problem-solving and personal expression.

Rather than reproducing someone else's artwork or following step-by-step templates, students are supported to make creative decisions, take thoughtful risks and create artwork they can genuinely feel proud of.
Just as importantly, our studio is a welcoming place where teens can slow down, connect with others and enjoy making art in a relaxed, supportive environment.
Whether your teen is picking up a paintbrush for the first time or has been creating for years, they'll be encouraged and challenged from their own starting point. Classes are suitable for complete beginners through to more experienced young artists, with Riley providing individual guidance to help every student continue growing at their own pace.

Riley Magras is a practising and exhibiting artist with a passion for both creating and teaching.
She believes that every student deserves to be encouraged from their own starting point and that technical skills should expand creative possibilities rather than limit them. Her classes combine thoughtful instruction with plenty of opportunity for students to experiment, solve creative challenges and develop confidence in their own artistic decisions.
As a working artist, Riley shares not only painting techniques, but also the creative thinking, experimentation and problem-solving that form part of her own artistic practice. Students gain an authentic insight into how artists develop ideas, overcome challenges and bring their work to life.

Absolutely. Students are welcome from wherever they’re starting. Whether your teen is picking up a paintbrush for the first time or already has experience, Riley tailors her guidance to suit each individual.
Students develop painting skills while exploring artists, cultures and creative approaches from around the world. Along the way, they’ll also use drawing and mixed-media techniques to plan and enhance their paintings, strengthening both their technical skills and creative thinking.
