Come and listen to this fascinating story and then draw, paint and collage your very own seahorse in the ocean.  We’ll use a combination of pencil, stencils, watercolour, oil pastel and collage materials to create a beautiful seahorse artwork.

Story inspiration: Mister Seahorse by Eric Carle

In this session you’ll explore and experiment with watercolour and acrylic paint, use paint stencils to create texture, blend colours to create depth, add oil pastel to create detail, and of course draw & paint a seahorse in there too.

This session is all about creating different layers of an artwork to create interest.

Magiclay Bird in a Habitat

Kids love magiclay – it is one of the most loved materials in our studio.

Come and design and make your very own bird out of magiclay and then add feathers, buttons, pipecleaners & whatever else you’d like to use to complete your bird.

Then set about using a box to create a habitat for your bird. Does your bird live high in a tree or on the forest floor? Or down by the beach or in your backyard? Wherever it lives, you’ll use a box to create a natural habitat for your bird.

What to bring: A box – shoebox size or slightly larger would be perfect. Water bottle.

Week 2

Friday 4th October

Arlo the Lion on Canvas

Have you ever heard of a lion who can’t sleep?

Arlo the Lion can’t sleep … and he is so tired, until he meets an owl. How on Earth can an owl help a lion sleep?

Come and listen to this beautiful story with squiggly illustrations and then paint your very own lion with squiggly lines.

We’ll read Arlo the Lion by Catherine Rayner as inspiration and then quickly dive into artmaking.

What to bring: Water bottle

Astronauts in Space on Canvas

Love anything space?

Then this is the class for you!

In this sessions you’ll use bubble wrap, acrylic paint, oil pastel and more to create an awesome astronaut in space.

You’ll experiment with blending colours and creating shadows in your artwork – with both the paint and oil pastels – and have oodles of fun.

And then take it home to hang up in your favourite spot!

This artwork is inspired by Katherine Bennell-Pegg – the first Australian to be qualified as an astronaut under the Australian flag.

What to bring: Water bottle.

September School Holiday Workshops

Enrolments Open Late August

This was a fantastic school holiday activity. The kids were kept busy for 3 hours, and produced some beautiful artwork by the end. Their teacher, Di, was just lovely. So engaging but also so knowledgeable and was really able to talk to the kids at their level. I would definitely recommend it.
